Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Policy

Our comprehensive safety framework covers every risk associated with industrial gas production, high-pressure compressed cylinders, storage, bottling, transport logistics, and the specific chemical properties of Oxygen and Nitrogen.

OUR CORE PROMISE

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Commitment

PILLAR 01

Protect Our People

Ensuring zero-harm work environments for plant operators, logistics drivers, and field technicians through continuous HSE training, mandatory task-based PPE, and strict operational controls.

PILLAR 02

Protect Our Customers

Guaranteeing product purity, cylinder structural integrity, safe transport, and providing comprehensive handling guidance and SDS documentation to end-users.

PILLAR 03

Protect Our Equipment

Maintaining asset integrity through periodic hydrostatic testing, pressure relief calibration, automated shutoffs, and preventive maintenance across all filling systems.

PILLAR 04

Protect The Environment

Operating with zero-emission air separation technology, energy-efficient compressors, containment controls, and full regulatory compliance with NAFDAC, NESREA, and SON.

HAZARD & RISK MANAGEMENT

Specific Gas Safety & Handling Protocols

Tailored safety procedures addressing the unique physical and chemical characteristics of Oxygen (O₂) and Nitrogen (N₂).

GENERAL HANDLING

Gas & Equipment Handling Procedures

Gas cylinders and equipment must be handled exclusively according to established standard operating procedures to prevent physical injuries, pressure releases, or equipment damage.

Mandatory Operating Controls & Guidelines:

Cylinders must always be moved using dedicated cylinder trolleys or cradles equipped with safety chains—never rolled, dragged, or dropped.
Valves must remain closed and protected by threaded metal valve caps during movement and storage.
Pressure regulators and hoses must be inspected for pressure rating, thread compatibility, and seal integrity prior to connection.
Only trained and authorized personnel are permitted to connect, operate, or disconnect high-pressure gas systems.
OXYGEN RISK MANAGEMENT

Oxygen (O₂) Safety & Fire Prevention

Oxygen is an oxidizer that vigorously accelerates combustion. Oxygen-enriched atmospheres (O₂ concentration > 23.5%) drastically increase fire hazard and lower the ignition energy required for materials to ignite.

Mandatory Operating Controls & Guidelines:

STRICT BAN ON OILS & GREASE: Oil, grease, organic lubricants, or flammable substances must never come into contact with oxygen valves, regulators, or fittings due to spontaneous explosion risk.
Materials used in oxygen systems must be verified for oxygen compatibility (e.g., brass, copper alloys, stainless steel).
Ventilation systems must operate continuously in bottling areas to prevent localized oxygen accumulation.
No open flames, smoking, welding sparks, or unrated electrical switches are permitted in oxygen storage or filling zones.
NITROGEN RISK MANAGEMENT

Nitrogen (N₂) Safety & Asphyxiation Prevention

Nitrogen is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic inert gas. Because it cannot be detected by human senses, nitrogen leaks in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces can rapidly displace atmospheric oxygen, causing silent asphyxiation.

Mandatory Operating Controls & Guidelines:

CONTINUOUS MONITORING: Ambient oxygen depletion monitors with audible and visual alarms are installed in all nitrogen filling, storage, and piping zones.
Enclosed rooms must maintain forced mechanical ventilation ensuring a minimum of 10 air exchanges per hour.
Confined Space Entry protocols (permit-to-work, atmospheric testing, standby rescuers) are mandatory prior to entering any vessel or manifold pit.
Nitrogen must never be vented directly into confined spaces; relief lines are routed outdoors into safe atmospheric discharge locations.
ASSET INTEGRITY

Cylinder Lifecycle & Storage Safety

Compressed gas cylinders store immense mechanical potential energy. Comprehensive procedures govern cylinder inspection, high-pressure charging, storage separation, and road transport.

Mandatory Operating Controls & Guidelines:

INSPECTION & TESTING: All cylinders undergo periodic hydrostatic water-jacket testing (every 5 years), wall thickness verification, and borescope internal checks.
SEGREGATED STORAGE: Full and empty cylinders are stored upright, chained in dedicated bays, and segregated by gas type (oxidizers separated from flammables/flammable materials).
STORAGE ENVIRONMENT: Storage areas must be dry, well-ventilated, shaded from direct sunlight, and situated away from heat sources or chemical corrosives.
TRANSPORTATION SAFETY: Vehicles transporting cylinders are equipped with hydraulic tail-lifts, safety cylinder cradles, fire extinguishers, and mandatory ADR hazard signage.

Key Safety Operational Areas

Systematic safeguards integrated across all workforce activities, emergency preparedness, and environmental stewardship.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

All personnel within plant operational zones must wear task-appropriate PPE without exception.

✓High-impact safety glasses and full-face shields during manifold connection & disconnects
✓Cryogenic thermal gloves & aprons for liquid oxygen/nitrogen handling
✓Steel-toe safety boots with metatarsal guards across all plant and loading bay areas
✓Flame-resistant (FR) anti-static work overalls in production zones

Emergency Response Preparedness

Structured emergency response plans address potential incidents to mitigate risks immediately.

✓24/7 Automated gas leak detection system linked to main plant ESD (Emergency Shutdown)
✓On-site fire suppression systems, deluge showers, and eyewash stations at key locations
✓Regular emergency evacuation drills and joint drills with regional fire and safety authorities
✓Immediate incident reporting, root-cause investigation, and corrective action tracking

Environmental Responsibility

Operating in full compliance with environmental laws to ensure sustainable manufacturing.

✓Zero-chemical waste air separation technology using clean physical refrigeration
✓Full regulatory compliance with NESREA, NAFDAC, and SON environmental standards
✓Energy-efficient air compression and heat recovery systems to minimize carbon footprint
✓Responsible recycling and disposal of obsolete equipment, oil, and packaging waste
